FRANKFORT, Ill. — Authorities believe a medical emergency may have led to a crash that claimed the life of an Orland Park man on Sunday evening.
The Frankfort Police Department said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on August 31 along northbound La Grange Road. Investigators say the driver of one vehicle likely experienced a sudden medical issue, causing his car to strike two others.
First responders immediately began CPR at the scene before transporting the man to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
The Will County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 80-year-old Laurence Capriotti, of Orland Park.
Fortunately, those in the other vehicles involved reported only minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under investigation as officials await autopsy results to confirm the cause of death.
Capriotti’s passing has left a community mourning a life cut short. While the investigation continues, police extended their condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
