KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities have identified Isaiah Wilson, 15, as the young boy tragically killed after being struck by a stray bullet near James A. Reed Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. near 88th and James A. Reed Road. Investigators believe Wilson was walking near the park when multiple gunshots rang out, and he was struck by one of the bullets.
Wilson managed to call a friend for help and was driven to a local hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Tragically, Wilson would have celebrated his sixteenth birthday tomorrow. His death has left his family, friends, and community heartbroken as they mourn the loss of a young life full of promise.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not released details about a potential suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the prosecution of the shooter.
