Greenville Police Investigating Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old on Nashville Avenue
GREENVILLE, TX — A community is in mourning after a young man was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in Greenville. The Greenville Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which occurred in the 3300 block of Nashville Avenue and has left loved ones searching for answers. Zavien Smallwood, 19 — Smallwood was rushed to a nearby hospital, where, despite lifesaving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
At approximately 12:42 a.m. on June 3, 2025, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they located a male victim — later identified as Zavien Smallwood, 19 — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately administered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.
Smallwood was rushed to a nearby hospital, where, despite lifesaving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic disturbance, and police have identified a male suspect. However, no arrest has been announced at this time as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
“This is a tragic and senseless loss of a young life,” said a spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department. “We are working diligently to gather all the facts and bring accountability to those responsible.”
