MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — A deadly crash has shut down a section of Minnesota Highway 55 between Golden Valley and Minneapolis on Thursday morning.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Penn Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway, shortly after a man being pursued by police struck another vehicle. Authorities confirmed that the police vehicle was not involved in the collision.
Multiple vehicles were involved, and aerial footage shows emergency crews on scene with a tarp covering part of the area. State transportation officials say Highway 55 will remain closed between Theodore Wirth Parkway and North Morgan Avenue until at least 1 p.m.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara is expected to provide an update on the crash. Details on the number of injuries or fatalities, as well as the exact cause of the crash, have not yet been released.
