TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio – A Bowerston woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash last month, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the New Philadelphia Post reported the crash occurred around 1:38 p.m. on August 10 at the intersection of County Road 64 and Township Road 286. Investigators said a 1994 Ford Taurus, driven by 64-year-old Dawn Coleman of Bowerston, was stopped on Township Road 286 before attempting a left turn onto County Road 64. As Coleman entered the intersection, her vehicle was struck by a 2012 Nissan Rogue driven by 18-year-old Livia Garabrandt of Dennison.
Officials determined Coleman failed to yield at the stop sign and was at fault in the crash. She was transported by Smith EMS to Aultman Hospital, where she remained hospitalized until succumbing to her injuries on September 4, according to the Stark County Coroner’s Office. Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt.
Garabrandt sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. She had been wearing her seat belt at the time.
The Dennison Fire Department and Smith EMS assisted at the scene.
