Teenager Fatally Shot on Bay Avenue in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. — An 18-year-old has been killed following a shooting late Friday night along Bay Avenue.

Authorities confirmed the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on September 5, 2025, near 1050 Bay Avenue, across from the 11th and Bay restaurant and beside the zip-line tower. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Kalielah Davis, who was transported by Columbus Fire and EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional. Davis was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 11:26 p.m.

Investigators reported that Davis was inside a dark sedan with two to three other girls when the gunfire erupted. The car was later found riddled with bullet holes, with multiple windows shattered. Crime scene investigators placed numerous flags marking shell casings scattered throughout the area.

Davis’s parents have been notified, and the community is now grappling with the loss of a young life cut short by violence.

At this time, Columbus police have not confirmed any arrests. The department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating the shooting and working to determine who is responsible. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing case.
