FATAL CRASH ON HIGHWAY 99 IN JACKSON COUNTY CLAIMS YOUNG DRIVER’S LIFE

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. (Sept. 5, 2025) – Oregon State Police report that a tragic single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Jackson County claimed the life of a 21-year-old man on Thursday morning.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 6:05 a.m. near milepost 6. Preliminary investigations indicate that Tristan Mitchel Donaldson, of Rogue River, was operating a southbound Mazda MZ3 at excessive speeds when he lost control. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled multiple times, and ultimately came to rest against a tree.

Donaldson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Oregon State Police were assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Fire District 1, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) during the on-scene investigation. Fortunately, the highway remained open and traffic was not impacted during the response.

OSP officials are continuing their investigation to determine all factors contributing to the crash and reminded drivers to exercise caution, particularly when traveling at high speeds.
