JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that 29-year-old Shaquille Green of Jackson Township has been charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in connection with the death of 28-year-old Toraya Reid, also of Jackson Township.
According to authorities, on September 6, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., Jackson Township Police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road. Officers found Reid unresponsive in the roadway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding officers also observed a male, later identified as Green, running on North New Prospect Road. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters.
Investigators determined that Green, who had been in a dating relationship with Reid, was responsible for her death. He was charged accordingly and is currently lodged at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Prosecutor Billhimer commended law enforcement agencies, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the Medical Examiner’s Office, for their collaborative efforts leading to Green’s swift apprehension.
Authorities reminded the public that the charges are accusations, and Green is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
