RANDOLPH, Minn. — A southeast Minnesota driver’s use of alcohol was linked to a fatal head-on crash on Highway 56 in Dakota County on Saturday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 11 a.m., just south of the 292nd Street East intersection, when a 2016 Dodge Ram, driven by 28-year-old Seth John Nechville of Kenyon, crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2019 GMC Terrain driven by 68-year-old Peter Foxvong Olson of Apple Valley.
Peter Olson and his passenger, 49-year-old Patricia Ann Olson, both of Apple Valley, were pronounced dead at the scene. Nechville sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment.
Investigators confirmed that alcohol use by Nechville was a factor in the collision.
First responders from the Randolph Fire Department, Cannon Falls EMS, Life Link, and personnel from Dakota and Goodhue counties assisted at the scene. The State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
