The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a tragic accident in Dallas County that claimed the life of Michael S. Hatfield, 42, on August 25, 2025.
Authorities reported that Hatfield was struck by a vehicle while walking along U.S. Highway 80 near the 91-mile marker. The impact caused him to be hit by additional oncoming vehicles. Despite emergency efforts, he sadly did not survive.
Hatfield’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where his identity was later confirmed. Investigators say the vehicle initially involved in the crash, as well as the driver, have not yet been identified.
Michael will be remembered for the love he shared with family and friends and the kindness he extended to those who knew him. His sudden passing leaves a deep void in the lives of his loved ones and in his community.
