SALEM, N.H. – The Salem Police Department is investigating a deadly head-on collision that occurred late Friday night, September 5, 2025, on Route 28.
At approximately 9:55 p.m., officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash in the area of 501 South Broadway. Emergency crews arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage. Both drivers, the sole occupants of their vehicles, were transported to area hospitals by Salem Fire personnel.
Authorities confirmed that 31-year-old Amy Sideri of Saugus, Massachusetts, who was driving a 2006 Hyundai Accent southbound, tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lawrence General Hospital.
The second driver, 53-year-old Scott Mitchell of Gorham, Maine, who was operating a 2011 Toyota Sienna northbound, was treated for minor injuries and later released. Police said he has been fully cooperative with the investigation.
South Broadway was closed for several hours while the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CAR) processed the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that Sideri’s vehicle entered the northbound lanes, striking Mitchell’s vehicle head-on.
