Fatal Pedestrian Crash Shuts Down Multiple Lanes of 405 Freeway in Sepulveda Pass

LOS ANGELES  – Multiple southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass were closed Monday afternoon following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

The California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert after a pedestrian exiting a vehicle was struck by a box truck around 1:55 p.m. The incident occurred between the Sepulveda Boulevard exit (Exit 59) and the Sunset Boulevard/Church Lane exit (Exit 57).

At the time of the report, four lanes remained closed, causing slow-moving traffic and backups extending into Van Nuys.

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area while the investigation into the deadly crash continues.
