SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — The woman who lost her life in a tragic crash on tuesday in Sumter County has been identified as Melinda Jene Horne, 45.
According to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office, the crash happened Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. on Beulah-Cuttino Road. Horne sustained critical injuries in the collision and was transported to Prisma Health Tuomey, where she later passed away despite efforts to save her life.
Authorities confirmed that an autopsy will be performed Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to determine the exact cause of death. The Sumter County Coroner’s Office, along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
At this time, officials have not released additional details regarding the cause of the accident or whether other vehicles were involved. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
