DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (Sept. 10, 2025) – The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the two men who lost their lives in a small plane crash near Centennial Airport earlier this month. The victims have been identified as Perry “Matt” Feeney, 52, of Arvada, and Lee “Rob” Hill, 64, of Greenwood Village.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported that the aircraft, a Beech BE35, went down early on a Friday morning under unclear circumstances before bursting into flames. The crash occurred behind a large warehouse on South Peoria Street, where the fire spread dangerously close to a generator and threatened a nearby building. Emergency crews contained the blaze, but both Feeney and Hill died at the scene.
Desmond Brown, who was working across the street at the time, described the devastation. “We already knew when we saw it burning, there is no way anyone survived that plane crash,” he told FOX31, adding that a locked gate prevented him and others from attempting to help.
The NTSB has launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash. Investigators are asking for assistance from the public—anyone with surveillance footage or who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to email evidence to witness@ntsb.gov.
This tragic loss adds to a series of small aircraft accidents in the region, underscoring safety concerns at Centennial Airport, one of the nation’s busiest general aviation hubs.
For the families and communities of Feeney and Hill, the crash has brought immense grief. Both men were well known and respected, leaving behind loved ones who are now mourning their sudden loss.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office and NTSB continue to work closely with local authorities. Updates will be provided as the investigation develops.
