In Loving Memory of Maria Carolyn Fitts (1999–2025)
Mt. Washington, Ky. — With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Maria Carolyn Fitts, 25, of Mt. Washington, who returned to the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Maria was born on November 8, 1999, in Rota, Spain, to Ricky and Mercedes Fitts. A 2017 graduate of Bullitt East High School, Maria dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)—a role that reflected her gentle heart and compassionate nature.
In her short but vibrant life, Maria experienced the world in ways few do, having lived in Japan, Spain, and the United States. She carried with her a love of different cultures and a deep appreciation for life’s joys. Her passions included the magical world of Harry Potter, and she had a special fondness for all things Hello Kitty—a reflection of her playful, sweet spirit.
Maria is survived by her loving parents, Ricky and Mercedes Fitts, and her beloved brother, Anthony Fitts. She is also mourned by a wide circle of extended family and friends both here and in Spain, all of whom remember her for her warmth, kindness, and light.
Funeral services to celebrate Maria’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service.
Though Maria’s time on Earth was brief, her impact was profound. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
