Child Fatally Shot in North St. Louis – Police Investigating as Homicide

St. Louis, MO – With heavy hearts, the St. Louis community is mourning the tragic loss of a child who was fatally shot late Wednesday morning in North City.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers from District 6 responded to a shooting in the 5000 block of Beacon Avenue around 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile male—estimated to be between 13 and 16 years old—suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Despite the efforts of first responders, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police quickly secured the area and called in homicide detectives, who are now leading the investigation into this devastating incident. As of now, the child’s identity has not been publicly released, pending notification of the family.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and no suspects have been named at this time. Officers are canvassing the neighborhood, seeking witnesses and surveillance footage that may shed light on what happened.

Residents expressed sorrow and outrage as yet another young life was cut short by gun violence. “This has to stop,” said one neighbor. “We can’t keep losing our kids in the streets.”
