Harrison Township, MI – Armed Standoff Ends Safely Following SWAT Intervention
A tense situation unfolded late Wednesday night in Harrison Township, as deputies with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to a call involving a potentially armed and dangerous individual.
On June 4, 2025, at approximately 10:18 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 27000 block of Riviera Drive following reports of a disorderly person. The suspect, a 41-year-old Harrison Township man, was allegedly intoxicated, destructive, and had threatened to shoot the caller.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect was inside the residence, and that the caller’s juvenile son was also still inside. As deputies established a perimeter, they observed the suspect holding what appeared to be a black long gun. A gunshot was also heard from within the home.
Deputies attempted to communicate with the suspect using the patrol vehicle’s PA system, issuing clear commands for him to exit the residence. The suspect refused to comply.
Out of concern for the child’s safety and the potential for further violence, MCSO SWAT was activated. SWAT officers were able to safely rescue the juvenile and successfully took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The suspect is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail, and the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet released his name.
Thanks to the swift, coordinated response of law enforcement, what could have been a tragic outcome was resolved safely. No injuries were reported.
