Haverhill, MA —  The City of Haverhill is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Officer Katelyn Tully, who was pronounced deceased Friday at a home on Bartlett Avenue.

Emergency crews responded to the address, where Officer Tully was found and later pronounced dead at the scene. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner spent much of the day investigating. Early findings show no signs of foul play, and her passing is being treated as an unattended death pending autopsy results.

Department and Community in Mourning

The Haverhill Police Department has been left heartbroken by the news. Surrounding agencies, including Billerica and Tewksbury Police, are assisting with shift coverage so Haverhill officers can take time to grieve.

Police Chief Robert Pistone called her passing “a profound loss,” describing Officer Tully as someone who served with grace, compassion, kindness, and professionalism.

Mayor Melinda also expressed condolences, thanking neighboring departments for their support and the community for its compassion:

“This is a tragic loss, and on behalf of the City of Haverhill, I want to extend our deepest sympathy to the officer’s family, friends, and colleagues.”

The Haverhill Police Patrolman Association released a heartfelt tribute, calling Officer Tully “a sister in arms” whose quiet strength, integrity, and compassion left a lasting impact on those she served beside.

Investigation Continues

Officials stress that all unattended deaths undergo full review. While no foul play is suspected, the exact cause of death remains unknown until the Chief Medical Examiner completes an autopsy.

Out of respect for Officer Tully’s family and the department, officials ask the community to give space and time as the investigation continues.
