KRAEMER, La. – Louisiana State Police Troop C is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 52-year-old Richard Billiot of Madisonville on Thursday afternoon, September 26, 2025.
Authorities say Billiot was riding a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Louisiana Highway 307 near Sanchez Road shortly after 2:00 p.m. when the crash occurred.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2019 Jeep Wrangler was stopped in the roadway, waiting to turn left into a private driveway while allowing westbound traffic to pass. As the Jeep began its left turn, Billiot attempted to pass in a designated passing zone. His motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the Jeep during the maneuver.
Despite wearing a Department of Transportation-approved helmet, Billiot sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jeep’s driver, who was properly restrained, suffered only minor injuries.
Troopers collected a standard toxicology sample from Billiot for analysis. The Jeep driver voluntarily provided a breath sample, which showed no alcohol detected.
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop C
