RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. – Authorities have identified the woman killed in a weekend shooting in the Midlands as 37-year-old Rachel Branham of Irmo, according to Richland County Coroner Nadia Rutherford.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning, September 28, 2025, on Forest Walk Court, a quiet residential street that was suddenly shattered by violence. Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded around 1:15 a.m. after reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found two victims. Branham was discovered lying face down in the doorway of a home and was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. A second victim, whose name has not been released, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. That individual’s condition has not been disclosed.

Deputies located the suspect, 65-year-old Keith Bagley, sitting on the front porch of a nearby residence with a beer in hand. He was detained without further incident. Investigators believe Bagley, Branham, and the second victim were acquainted, indicating the shooting was not random.

Bagley has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate what led up to the deadly encounter. No motive has yet been disclosed.

The loss of Rachel Branham has left her family and community devastated. Sheriff’s officials urge anyone with additional information to contact investigators or submit an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers.
