COUNTY LOUTH, Ireland — Authorities have named the three people found dead in a house in Tallanstown, County Louth, as Mark O’Connor (55), Louise Doherty O’Connor (56), and their son Evan O’Connor (27).

A man in his 30s was arrested near the scene in Drumgowna earlier today and is currently in garda custody. Gardaí have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and have appealed to the public for information.

The tragic discovery occurred just before 10 a.m. when gardaí responded to reports of a stabbing at the family home. Local councillor John Sheridan described the family as well-known and respected, noting their active participation in sports and community events.

Mark and Louise had recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. Mark, a regional manager for the National Advocacy Service, was a longtime campaigner for disability rights and had appeared before Oireachtas Committees to advocate for disabled children. He previously served as Community Engagement Manager of Inclusion Ireland and often highlighted World Autism Day with his son Evan.

Louise, a qualified nurse, also taught English to Ukrainian residents in Ireland and volunteered in pet rescue centers. Evan, who attended the Drogheda ABACAS school for children with complex needs, graduated in 2016 and was recognized for his contributions to the local community.

Post-mortem examinations are scheduled at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Gardaí have set up an incident room at Ardee Garda Station, with a senior investigating officer in charge and a family liaison officer appointed to support relatives.

The investigation is ongoing.
