HUGHES COUNTY, S.D. – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday evening on Highway 34, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Elvera J. Drivinghawk of Kennebec, South Dakota.
According to preliminary reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident happened at approximately 8:43 p.m. near mile marker 231. Drivinghawk was struck by a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country traveling westbound, operated by a 27-year-old male from Rock Valley, Iowa, who was not injured.
Drivinghawk sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash appears to be a single-vehicle, pedestrian-involved incident, but investigators are continuing to gather information.
