Aiken Man Busted with Stolen Guns and Enough Fentanyl to Kill Thousands
Aiken, SC — A 34-year-old Aiken man is back behind bars following a major drug and weapons bust that authorities say could have had deadly consequences for the community. Robert Anthony Jackson was arrested Thursday morning during a SWAT-led raid on a residence located on Kousa Lane SW.
According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies—assisted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)—executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of nearly 400 grams of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid. Officials say the amount recovered was enough to kill thousands. Along with the fentanyl, law enforcement recovered various pills, marijuana, several firearms—including some reported stolen—and more than $13,000 in cash.
Jackson now faces a long list of charges, including:
- Trafficking in fentanyl
- Trafficking in methamphetamine or cocaine base
- Possession with intent to distribute near a school
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
This arrest is part of an ongoing initiative by the Sheriff’s Office to crack down on drug trafficking and gun violence across Aiken County. Officials say removing fentanyl and stolen firearms from the streets is crucial to preventing overdose deaths and violent crimes.
“This operation is another step toward making our neighborhoods safer,” said a representative from the Sheriff’s Office. “Fentanyl is an extremely dangerous drug, and getting it out of circulation is a top priority.”
This isn’t Jackson’s first brush with the law. He was arrested in 2016 during a raid on Bell Drive in the Beech Island area and was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and operating a stash house. His criminal history also includes a juvenile conviction in Richmond County for robbery, later reduced to theft by taking.
Jackson is currently being held at the Aiken County detention center as the investigation continues. Authorities say more arrests could be forthcoming as they pursue leads stemming from the raid.
