ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Authorities have identified the victim in Thursday morning’s fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 70 near Adelaide Avenue as 38-year-old Heather Crews of St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the tragic incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on October 2, 2025, when Crews climbed over a fence near the westbound lanes of I-70 and began walking toward the interstate. Investigators say video footage shows she paused for traffic to clear before attempting to cross the highway.

While crossing, Crews was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. Police believe she was subsequently hit by additional vehicles after the initial impact. None of the drivers involved stopped or remained at the scene. Emergency responders arrived shortly after and pronounced Heather Crews deceased at the scene.

Both Accident Reconstruction and District 6 Detectives are leading the ongoing investigation.
