Woman Identified in Fatal Crash on Illinois Route 2

ROCKTON, Ill – Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in a tragic accident on Illinois Route 2 as Faith Moore, 72, of Rockton. The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine the cause of the incident.

According to a press release from the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening when a vehicle traveling northbound on Illinois Route 2 lost control north of Wagon Wheel Road. The vehicle overturned, coming to rest off the roadway.

Emergency crews arrived on scene to find a female passenger unresponsive inside the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced deceased. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at 9:55 p.m., and at 10:34 p.m., Faith Moore was officially pronounced dead. An autopsy later confirmed that she died from blunt force trauma to the head as a result of the crash.

The Rockton Police Department, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, and the Winnebago County Major Crash Assistance Team are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal rollover. No additional information has been released at this time.

Faith Moore, 72, of Rockton, Illinois, will be remembered as a kind, loving, and gentle soul who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her sudden passing has left her family and friends heartbroken.
