15-Year-Old Girl Dies in Polk County UTV Crash

POLK COUNTY, Wis. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal UTV crash in Polk County as 15-year-old Alexa Peterson from rural Osceola.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday on 250th Street in the Town of Farmington. According to officials, the UTV was traveling south when the juvenile driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over as it entered a ditch.

Alexa Peterson, a passenger in the UTV, was flown to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The driver, also a juvenile, was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover.

Authorities noted that neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash. No further details regarding the circumstances of the accident or the identities of the individuals involved have been released beyond the victim’s name.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash and urges residents to exercise caution when operating UTVs or other off-road vehicles.
