TALLAPOOSA COUNTY, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a tragic hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 57-year-old Alexander City man late Friday night.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday, October 17, on Alabama Highway 259 near the 12-mile marker, about one mile south of Alexander City.

The victim, identified as Jerry L. Partee, was standing in the roadway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Sadly, Partee sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and has not yet been identified. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver involved to contact ALEA Troopers at 334-676-7250.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

At this time, the community of Alexander City mourns the loss of Jerry Partee — a life tragically cut short — as authorities work to bring answers and justice to his family and loved ones.
