27-Year-Old Motorcyclist Identified After Fatal Collision with Dump Truck in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va  — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a tragic crash with a dump truck in Campbell County on Tuesday as 27-year-old Spensir Wood of Rustburg.

According to the Virginia State Police, the deadly collision occurred along Campbell Highway, about a mile north of the intersection with Suburban Road. Investigators said Wood was traveling northbound at an excessive rate of speed when he approached a stationary dump truck waiting in a median crossover.

Police say Wood lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to skid and lay down on its side before striking the dump truck. The impact was severe, and Wood died at the scene from his injuries. His motorcycle caught fire following the crash, but firefighters from the Rustburg Fire Department quickly arrived and extinguished the flames.

No other injuries were reported. The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragic loss of Spensir Wood has left the Rustburg community in mourning as family and friends remember a young man whose life was cut far too short.
