DALLAS, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 47-year-old Juan Quiroz early Tuesday morning on the Dallas North Tollway near Spring Creek Parkway.

Authorities said the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. when an 18-wheeler made an unsafe lane change, striking a Honda Civic driven by Quiroz. The impact caused the Civic to hit a concrete wall and overturn, before being struck by two other vehicles.

Troopers said Quiroz died at the scene from his injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop and fled the area. The two other drivers involved were not injured.

DPS investigators are actively searching for the hit-and-run truck driver, who remains unidentified. The case is being treated as a felony investigation.

The collision caused significant delays along the northbound lanes during the morning commute as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and gather evidence.

Friends and family of Juan Quiroz are mourning his sudden and tragic passing. He is remembered as a hardworking, kind-hearted man whose life was taken far too soon.

Anyone with information about the crash or the 18-wheeler involved is urged to contact the Texas Department of Public Safety or Crime Stoppers to assist in the ongoing investigation.
