BLACKFOOT, Idaho — A 16-year-old Blackfoot resident, Bobby G. Jackson, has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Rebecca Rivera of Blackfoot. Jackson was arraigned Wednesday morning in Bingham County Court and is being held at the 3B Detention Facility on a $1 million bond.
Authorities say Rivera was shot in the head at a trailer park located at 1159 Broadway on October 23, 2025. Investigators have not yet clarified the nature of Jackson’s relationship with Rivera. A preliminary investigation revealed that Jackson, who had previously been reported as a teen runaway, allegedly stole a firearm prior to the shooting. State prosecutors indicated the act was committed with premeditation and forethought.
Following the shooting, Jackson fled the area, traveling from Blackfoot to Chubbuck and eventually Pocatello, where he was taken into custody without incident late Thursday night. The Blackfoot Police Department (BPD) expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies across Southeast Idaho for their assistance in locating and apprehending Jackson.
At the arraignment, state prosecutors emphasized Jackson’s violent criminal history, which includes a prior burglary with aggravated factors charge, and confirmed that he is facing a single charge of first-degree murder.
The BPD released a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the Rivera family, our community, and all those affected by this tragic crime.”
In loving memory of Rebecca Rivera, a Blackfoot resident whose life was tragically taken. The community mourns her loss and stands with her family during this difficult time.
