It is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the Minisink Hook & Ladder Co. #1 and the Goshen Fire District announce the passing of one of their most respected and beloved members, Gerard H. “Jerry” Killenberger.
Jerry was more than just a firefighter — he was a pillar of strength, a guiding presence, and a devoted servant to his community. For decades, he selflessly dedicated his time, energy, and heart to protecting the residents of Goshen and mentoring generations of fellow firefighters. His unwavering commitment to public service was matched only by his kindness, humility, and fierce loyalty to those he served alongside.
To know Jerry was to witness true integrity in action. Whether responding to emergencies, lending a hand at community events, or sharing his wealth of experience with younger members, Jerry exemplified what it meant to lead by example. His passion for the fire service was evident in everything he did, and his presence brought both comfort and confidence to those around him.
Beyond the firehouse, Jerry was a loving family man and a trusted friend. His legacy stretches far beyond the calls he answered — it lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the indelible mark he left on the heart of the Goshen Fire District.
As we mourn the loss of our brother and friend, we also honor the extraordinary life he led. We extend our deepest condolences to the Killenberger family and ask that the community join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Gerard H. “Jerry” Killenberger — a true hero, a steadfast leader, and a man whose light will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Jerry. We’ll take it from here.
