NEOSHO, Mo. — The Newton County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Xander James Cupp, of Oronogo, Missouri, who passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. His death comes nearly a week after he was critically injured in a vehicle crash on October 20.

Known for his bright smile, humor, and compassionate heart, Xander touched the lives of countless people in his short but meaningful life. Born on November 17, 2005, in Joplin, he was the beloved son of Charles “Andy” and Amber (Beale) Cupp. From a young age, Xander brought light into every room he entered — always quick with a joke, a helping hand, or words of encouragement.

A graduate of Webb City High School, Class of 2024, Xander was known for his determination and strong work ethic. He worked at local businesses, including Subway and Casey’s, before joining his grandfather at All Around Automotive in Granby, where he was training to become a skilled mechanic. He dreamed of one day taking over the family business, continuing the legacy of hard work and service that he admired so deeply.

Those who knew him remember Xander not only for his mechanical talent but also for his creativity and kindness. He had recently begun exploring tattoo artistry and had an eye for design and detail. Friends describe him as loyal, funny, and always the first to offer support when someone needed it.

Faith played an important role in Xander’s life. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Heartland Community Church, where he often volunteered with his parents during mission events and community outreach. His generous spirit will continue to bless others even after his passing, as he selflessly gave the gift of life through organ donation.

Xander leaves behind his loving parents, Andy and Amber Cupp; his cherished sisters, Mikynna and Leah; his fiancée, Halle Hannum; and a large, loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A memorial service to honor Xander’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at One Church, 2802 New Hampshire Ave, Joplin, with Pastor Shane Munn officiating.

Xander’s family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to support the family through Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematory, who are handling the arrangements.

Though his time on Earth was far too short, Xander’s laughter, kindness, and love will live on  a reminder to all who knew him that even the smallest acts of joy and care can leave the deepest mark.

Rest in peace, Xander James Cupp gone too soon, but never forgotten.
