LAKELAND, Fla. — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is investigating a tragic crash that claimed the life of 19-year-old Blue Scott on Saturday night in Lakeland.

According to deputies, the collision occurred just before 10 p.m. in the area of County Line Road, near an O’Reilly Auto Parts warehouse. Investigators say Scott was traveling northbound on a green and black Suzuki motorcycle when a Nissan Altima pulled out of a driveway and attempted to cross the northbound lanes.

PCSO reports that Scott tried to swerve to avoid the car, but the Altima continued into the median, directly into the motorcycle’s path. The two vehicles collided, ejecting Scott from his bike. First responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, Blue Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said it is unclear whether Scott was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. A helmet was recovered near the scene; however, it was unstrapped and not found close to him. The driver of the Nissan was not injured but reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigators do not believe distracted driving played a role in the collision.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.

This tragic loss has left family, friends, and the Lakeland community heartbroken. Blue Scott, remembered as a young man full of life and passion, had a bright future ahead of him. Loved ones describe him as adventurous, kindhearted, and always eager to lend a hand to those in need.

As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a promising young life taken far too soon. Blue Scott will be remembered for his energy, his laughter, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
