Suspect Identified in Fatal Midwest City Police Pursuit

Midwest City, OK — Authorities have identified the suspect who died Monday night following a police pursuit that ended in a fatal crash in Midwest City.

According to the Midwest City Police Department, the incident began shortly after 8:10 p.m. on November 3, 2025, when Oklahoma County dispatch received reports of an assault and stolen vehicle at a Dollar General in Harrah. The suspect allegedly assaulted a victim with a pipe before fleeing the scene in a stolen silver Nissan sedan.

Roughly 20 minutes later, a Midwest City police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling southbound on Sooner Road. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit that lasted approximately seven minutes through residential areas and onto Southeast 15th Street.

Police say the chase ended when an officer performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver to stop the suspect’s vehicle. The impact caused the Nissan to collide with another vehicle that had stopped in the westbound lanes between Century and Douglas boulevards. The other driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Brice Lajuan Edwards of Oklahoma County, was rendered medical aid at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Per department protocol, the officer involved in the maneuver has been placed on paid administrative leave pending a full investigation by detectives and accident reconstruction specialists. The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and will review the findings once the investigation is complete.

“We are thankful for the cooperation we’ve received from witnesses and other responding agencies,” said Police Chief Greg Wipfli in a statement. “This is a tragic situation, and our department is committed to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation.”

Authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine all circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
