Fatal Crash Near Spencer, Iowa Claims Life of Local Man

Spencer, Iowa — A devastating traffic accident near Spencer on Tuesday morning claimed the life of 35-year-old Ryan Cundiff of Spencer and left two others injured, including a young child.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:23 a.m. on County Road B24. Cundiff was driving a westbound Chevrolet Traverse when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound GMC Acadia.

Ryan Cundiff was pronounced dead at the scene. A 5-year-old child from Spencer, who was a passenger in Cundiff’s vehicle, and the driver of the Acadia, a resident of Hartley, were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Authorities have not released the condition of the injured parties.

Investigators reported that Cundiff was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol continues to examine the scene to determine contributing factors and circumstances.

The community of Spencer is mourning the sudden loss of Cundiff, remembered by family and friends as a devoted father and a respected member of the community. His passing is a stark reminder of the importance of road safety, including the use of seatbelts and careful driving on rural highways.
