Cumberland County, VA — A heartbreaking tragedy has left the community of North Chesterfield mourning the loss of 19-year-old Edilmar H. Alvarez Sunun, who lost his life in a devastating crash Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025.
According to the Virginia State Police, the fatal single-vehicle accident occurred around 8:05 a.m. on Anderson Highway near Blenheim Road. Investigators say Edilmar was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta westbound when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road at a high rate of speed, struck a tree, spun, and caught fire. Despite the quick arrival of emergency responders, Edilmar sadly passed away at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
