FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities have identified 22-year-old Totiana Samuels of Fort Worth as the victim who tragically lost her life following a head-on crash Sunday evening on Interstate 30 near downtown Fort Worth.

According to investigators, the collision occurred when 45-year-old Gary Morton, whose arrest records show he is from Alberta, Canada, was driving the wrong way on I-30, causing a devastating head-on crash. The impact was so violent that one person was reportedly thrown from a vehicle.

Samuels passed away Tuesday afternoon from the severe injuries she sustained in the crash. Her untimely death has left family, friends, and the Fort Worth community heartbroken as they mourn the loss of a bright and loving young woman whose life was cut tragically short.

Morton remains hospitalized due to injuries he suffered in the collision. He has been charged with three counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and one count of driving while intoxicated. Authorities say those charges are expected to be upgraded following Samuels’ passing.

Two additional victims — a 26-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man — were also seriously injured and remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Because Morton is still recovering in the hospital, officials say no mugshot is available at this time.
