Tragic Crash Claims Life of Parlier Man in Del Rey
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif.— Authorities have identified the man killed in a devastating crash involving a semi-truck early Wednesday morning in Del Rey. According to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been named as 41-year-old Juan Rodriguez of Parlier.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that just before 6 a.m., a big rig without a trailer was traveling westbound on American Avenue, approaching the POM Wonderful plant, with a Dodge Challenger following behind. As the big rig attempted to make a left turn into the plant, investigators say the Challenger collided into the rear of the semi at a high rate of speed, causing both vehicles to spin out of control. The Challenger came to rest in a nearby field, while the big rig ended up in the opposing lane.
Tragically, Juan Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and is believed to have been on his way to work when the accident occurred.
The driver of the semi-truck was transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
As the community mourns this heartbreaking loss, friends and family remember Juan as a hardworking and dedicated man who cared deeply for those around him. His sudden passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Juan Rodriguez during this difficult time.
