UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal I-95 Crash
The Virginia State Police have identified the victim in a tragic two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday evening, November 4, 2025, along Interstate 95 at the 37-mile marker.
Investigators report that a 2010 Mazda MZ3, driven by 39-year-old Echenique Nicholas A. Ozimisa of Richmond, was traveling northbound when it suddenly veered off the roadway, entered the median, and crossed into the southbound lanes. The vehicle collided with a southbound tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but tragically, Ozimisa was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the cause of the incident, including what may have led Ozimisa’s vehicle to cross the median.
Family, friends, and community members are mourning the untimely loss of Echenique Nicholas Ozimisa, remembered as a caring and hardworking individual whose life was cut short far too soon. Thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
