WARREN, Ind. — The community is mourning the tragic loss of 24-year-old Skyla Michelle Bryant of Van Buren, who died in a fatal crash early Saturday morning on South Warren Road. First responders were called to the scene around 1:09 a.m. after reports of a truck crash near 10725 South Warren Road.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found Bryant trapped beneath her overturned truck. Life-saving measures were immediately performed, but tragically, she passed from her injuries. The Huntington County Coroner ruled her death accidental.

Investigators report that Bryant was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when her vehicle veered off the road to the east and struck a mailbox. The truck then overcorrected, traveled sideways for approximately 1,000 feet, and eventually overturned, ejecting Bryant from the vehicle. Evidence suggests she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Debris from the accident even shattered the window of a nearby home.
