APOPKA, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol has identified three teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a rollover crash early Sunday morning, November 9, 2025, in Apopka.
The victims were 17-year-old Enrique Rodriguez Sabas, 17-year-old Julio Lopez, and 13-year-old Leyner Velasquez. The single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:35 a.m. near the intersection of E. Welch Road and Wekiwa Drive.
According to the FHP, the teens were riding in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with a total of six boys aged 13 to 17. The pickup truck was traveling eastbound on E. Welch Road when the driver lost control while navigating a curve. The vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.
The 17-year-old male driver and two other passengers, ages 14 and 15, were hospitalized with injuries described as “serious but not life-threatening.” Unfortunately, Rodriguez Sabas, Lopez, and Velasquez sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators noted that only two of the six occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
