HART COUNTY, GA — A heartbreaking single-vehicle crash on the evening of July 13, 2025, has claimed the life of 16-year-old Shelby Haynie, sending waves of sorrow throughout the Hart County community.
At approximately 6:45 PM, deputies with the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, along with Hart County Fire and EMS, responded to the scene of a crash near 3500 Montevideo Road. Emergency crews from Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, Fire, and EMS also responded to assist.
Upon arrival, first responders found a Ford F-150 pickup truck overturned in a field just off the roadway. The driver had been able to exit the vehicle. However, Shelby Haynie, the front seat passenger, was found entrapped inside the overturned truck.
Despite the immediate efforts of emergency personnel, Shelby was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Georgia State Patrol has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
Shelby Haynie was a bright young soul, taken far too soon. Her passing has left a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her. As the investigation continues, the community rallies together in grief and remembrance of a life lost too early.
