The tight-knit community of Delbarton, West Virginia, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jacob Ray, who tragically died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2025, along State Route 65 in the Lenore area of Mingo County.

According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. near Lenore Memorial Gardens, close to milepost 18.7. Emergency crews were called to the scene after reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle. Despite swift response and lifesaving efforts, Jacob Ray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities closed both directions of Route 65 for several hours as investigators examined the scene and worked to determine what led to the fatal crash. The road was reopened early Wednesday evening, but the loss has left a lasting impact on family, friends, and neighbors in the Delbarton community.

Jacob, who lived in Delbarton and was originally from Delbarton, West Virginia, was remembered as a kind, hardworking, and loyal man who loved life on two wheels. Friends say he had a passion for motorcycles, the outdoors, and spending time with those he cared about most.

“Jacob had a big heart and a smile that could light up the room,” one friend shared. “He loved his hometown and the people in it. Losing him is a huge loss for all of us.”
