58-Year-Old Woman Killed in Late-Night Crash in Sumter Identified


SUMTER, S.C. — A woman has tragically died following a late-night crash in Sumter on Wednesday, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Broad Street and Camden Highway.

Coroner Robbie Baker confirmed the identity of the victim as Libby Weston, 58, of Sumter County. Authorities say her vehicle veered off the road and struck a utility pole. Emergency responders transported her to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Weston’s family has been notified, and the community is left grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of a woman remembered for her warmth and presence.

The Sumter Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash. No additional details have been released at this time regarding what may have led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
