Prairie Grove, Arkansas –It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that the Prairie Grove School District mourns the loss of Coach Blake Williford, who tragically passed away on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025, following a head-on collision on Viney Grove Road near Goose Creek Road. The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle was injured, and further details of the crash are still under investigation.
Coach Williford had just joined the Prairie Grove High School family on July 1st as the Defensive Coordinator and ISS Supervisor. Though his time with us was short, his presence left an immediate impact. Known for his passion for the game and his commitment to student-athletes, Coach Williford brought energy, leadership, and heart to the field and campus. His excitement about joining the PGHS Tigers was evident to all who met him.
Before arriving in Prairie Grove, Coach Williford had built a respected career in football coaching, previously serving at Jay, Sand Springs, and McLain School Districts. His reputation as a mentor and motivator followed him throughout his career, and he was deeply admired by his players, colleagues, and the broader school communities he served.
Coach Williford’s sudden passing is an enormous loss not only to our school but also to the entire Prairie Grove community. His dedication to youth development, his warm spirit, and his unwavering love for the game of football will not be forgotten.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, players, and fellow coaches during this incredibly difficult time. Grief counselors and support services will be made available for students and staff as we navigate this loss together.
