THIBODAUX, LA – A heartbreaking incident in the early hours of Saturday, July 5, 2025, has left two families in mourning and a community stunned. Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre confirmed the deaths of Draven Hendon, 30, of Thibodaux, and Jordan Landry, 22, of Houma, following what investigators are describing as a tragic case of negligent homicide followed by suicide.
Deputies and detectives with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call around 3:30 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Colony Station. Upon arrival, both individuals were found deceased at the scene.
According to preliminary findings, the two were reportedly playing with a loaded firearm when it accidentally discharged, fatally striking Jordan Landry. In the immediate aftermath, Draven Hendon allegedly turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
“This is an incredibly tragic and senseless loss of life,” Sheriff Craig Webre said in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families of those involved in this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with them as they process this unimaginable loss.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and while the current evidence supports the explanation of an accidental shooting followed by suicide, officials have stated that any new developments will be shared publicly as they arise.
