TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL ā The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has confirmed the identity of a pedestrian who was struck and killed early Sunday morning, July 20, in a tragic accident along U.S. Route 82. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Ashley N. Jarrell of Northport.
According to ALEA, the fatal incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. near the 56-mile marker, approximately three miles east of Tuscaloosa. Jarrell was walking along the roadway when she was struck by a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by 19-year-old Lindy P. Atkins of Tuscaloosa.
Jarrell was pronounced dead at the scene. No further details regarding the circumstances of the collision have been released at this time.
The ALEA Highway Patrol Division is actively investigating the incident to determine the events that led up to the crash.
