WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 29-year-old Patrick Robert Lanahan, who was tragically killed in a head-on collision on Route 82 Saturday evening, July 19, 2025.
According to Connecticut State Police, the fatal crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. as Lanahan was driving westbound on Route 82. Authorities say he failed to navigate a curve in the road, causing his vehicle to veer off before re-entering the roadway and colliding head-on with an SUV traveling east. The impact of the collision caused Lanahan’s sedan to flip and come to rest on its roof in the center of the highway.
Lanahan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV involved in the crash spun out of control, and all three of its occupants sustained injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing, as police continue to determine the contributing factors in the tragic accident.
