SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — The community of San Bernardino is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Destiny Simon, who was tragically killed in a car crash on Saturday night, July 19, 2025, in Victorville. The fatal collision occurred around 8:47 p.m. on the westbound lanes of Air Expressway, just east of Ranch Road.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash involved two vehicles: a gold Mercedes-Benz CLK320 and a silver Honda Accord. Destiny was a passenger in the Mercedes, which was being driven by 19-year-old Jalen Kendall of Helendale. Authorities report that the Mercedes and Honda collided under circumstances still being investigated.
Destiny was pronounced dead at the scene, alongside the unidentified male driver of the Honda Accord, a resident of Adelanto. His identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. Kendall was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Destiny Simon was just beginning her journey into adulthood, with a future full of promise and potential. She is remembered by family and friends as a bright, warm-hearted young woman whose presence brought joy to those around her. Her sudden and tragic loss has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her.
The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Air Expressway was closed for several hours between Gas Line Road and North D Street as deputies processed the scene.
