Three-Year-Old Kaseyn Clifton Drowns in Oreana Pool Accident, Authorities Say
OREANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Tragedy struck the small Macon County community of Oreana over the weekend, as a three-year-old boy from Decatur, identified as Kaseyn Clifton, died in a drowning accident, officials confirmed.
According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency responders from the Argenta-Oreana Fire Department were dispatched to 115 E. Burgess Street shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday, following a 911 call reporting a drowning.
The call came from a family member who told dispatchers they had found their younger brother unresponsive in the backyard swimming pool. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the child could not be revived.
On Wednesday afternoon, Macon County Coroner Michael D. Burkham officially confirmed that Kaseyn Clifton had died as a result of drowning.
Following a thorough investigation, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office stated that no criminal charges would be filed in connection with the incident, concluding that the drowning was a tragic accident. The exact circumstances surrounding how the child entered the pool have not been publicly disclosed.
Officials said no additional information is currently available.
